A closer look at your journey

01
Day 1

Tarangire National Park

Leave Arusha by road and travel toward Tarangire, passing settlements and cultivated land before reaching the park. After entry formalities, begin a game drive through baobab country, woodland and the river landscape. Your guide uses the remaining daylight to introduce the park rather than attempting a distant circuit that would leave little time at sightings. Elephants, antelope, giraffe and birds are among the wildlife that may be encountered, with every drive shaped by conditions on the day. Continue to your booked accommodation after the safari. The balance between transfer and game viewing depends on departure time, camp location and road conditions.

Lake Manyara National Park

Travel west from Arusha toward the Rift Valley escarpment and Lake Manyara National Park. The road journey gives way to a different kind of safari as you enter groundwater forest and continue through woodland and more open habitats where accessible. Your guide introduces the park's ecological variety, looking for primates, larger mammals and birds while adapting the route to lake levels and track conditions. The day is planned as a transfer followed by meaningful game viewing, with time available determined by the morning departure. Later continue to your selected accommodation in the Manyara or Karatu area, ready for the next part of the northern circuit.
All dayGame Drive

Explore Lake Manyara National Park beneath the steep Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 3

Central Serengeti

Leave Arusha for a substantial overland journey to the central Serengeti through the northern circuit and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Cultivated land, highland scenery and open plains mark the successive stages of the route. Stops are kept purposeful so that the journey does not become overloaded with excursions before reaching the park. After entry, wildlife viewing forms part of the drive toward your accommodation, with the guide balancing worthwhile sightings against the remaining distance. Expect a travel-led day with an introduction to the Serengeti rather than a full game-drive program. Your overnight location and road conditions determine how much daylight remains for exploration.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Wildlife and crater scenery

Set out from Karatu and climb into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before descending to the crater floor for the day's game drive. Grassland, marshes and woodland are framed by the caldera walls, giving wildlife viewing a different scale from the Serengeti. Your guide follows permitted tracks and selects areas according to conditions and animal movement, with time to watch encounters rather than treating the crater as a species checklist. Meal stops follow the arrangements in your itinerary. After the safari, ascend from the crater and continue back to Karatu. This return format keeps the same accommodation while allowing a substantial day in the conservation area.
